Call for Papers for a New Special Issue of EAJ

By Liz Stringer posted 29 days ago

To date, there has been less attention given to methodological and measurement issues associated with the use of classroom observations to improve teaching via formative feedback to teachers. In order to advance research that is responsive to and can inform practice, the Journal of Educational Assessment is seeking papers that examine conceptual, methodological, and practical issues involved in supporting valid uses of observation protocols for purposes of formative assessment.

We encourage interested authors to prepare a brief précis (2-3 pages) summarizing the proposed paper, including theoretical framework, research questions, sample, instruments, data collection and analysis, as well as findings and implications. The Special Issue editors will review all submissions and provide feedback to authors about the appropriateness of the submission for the special issue. If encouraged to submit, the SI editors will provide additional guidance and suggestions for the final submission. (Please note: A positive review of the précis does not imply any assurance of final acceptance as all submissions will go through standard peer review process.)

Précis due December 19, 2025. Submit précis by email copying both Special Issue editors (courtney.bell@wisc.edu, drew.gitomer@gse.rutgers.edu).
