NCME Honors State Technical Advisory Committee (State TAC) Service

The National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME) honors the service of current members of Technical Advisory Committees that support state testing programs nationwide. These State TACs are critical partners in helping state education agencies meet federal requirements for high-quality assessments under the U.S. Department of Education’s Assessment Peer Review Process.

State TAC members are independent experts in educational measurement who meet periodically to evaluate technical documentation, review evidence, and offer guidance to state agencies and their assessment vendors. Their contributions help ensure that assessments used for accountability, equity, and educational improvement are supported by valid and reliable evidence.

While State TAC members do not represent state agencies or bear direct responsibility for program implementation, their impartial expertise helps uphold NCME’s mission to advance applications of educational measurement to benefit society. NCME is proud to recognize these professionals for their important—yet often invisible—service to students, educators, and the public.

NCME also maintains a State TAC Talent List of early- and mid-career experts recommended for future service. State agency representatives interested in learning more or receiving the list can contact: ncme@ncme.org
